How well do you know yourself?
At times we can have feelings of doubt or even uncertainty about who we are, what we offer, and our value to yourself, others, and in the workplace.
You may well be familiar with the SWOT analysis:
- STRENGTH
- WEAKNESS
- OPPORTUNITY
- THREATS
People generally use this when looking at workplace issues, team dynamics, or how we’re doing against competitors.
But how many of us do a SWOT analysis for ourselves?
Why this matters:
Doing this for yourself from time to time can be super useful, and the results will allow you to:
✅ Distinguish yourself
✅ Recognise unique strengths, skills, and talents
✅ Plan strategies
✅ Manage and work on weaknesses
✅ Overcome threats
✅ Start looking at ways to maximise opportunities
When doing this exercise, keep in mind:
🟡 This is not about being modest or overly self-critical.
🟡 The goal is to be honest — think from your perspective and those around you.
After the exercise:
➡️ Put an action plan together
➡️ Set clear goals
➡️ Decide when you will start each task
➡️ Choose how you will monitor your success
💬 If you’re stuck, drop me a line — we can go through this together.
| STRENGTHS What do you do well? What do you do better than others? What unique skills and talents do you have? What do others see as your strengths? What are you proud of, like about yourself and enjoy doing? | WEAKNESSES What could you do better? What do you avoid? Where do you have less skill or talent than others? What are others likely to see as weaknesses? What do you need to face up to? |
| OPPORTUNITIES What opportunities are out there for you? What trends could you take advantage of ?What strengths could you turn into opportunities? What is going on locally that you could capitalise on? | THREATS What trends and threats could harm you? What is your competition doing? What threats do your weaknesses expose you to?
