Let’s be honest, being a Personal Trainer or a Coach is one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet, but it’s also one of the most exhausting. I know because I’ve been in the trenches with you. You spend your days pouring your energy into other people, motivating them when they’re flagging, and holding them accountable when they want to quit. But who is doing that for you?
Often, the biggest obstacle isn’t your knowledge of anatomy or your ability to program a killer HIIT session. It’s the stuff going on between your ears. It’s the “What if I’m not good enough?” or the “I’ll start that new business project when I have more time.”
I’ve seen too many brilliant coaches stall because they’re stuck in their own heads. That’s exactly why I wrote my new book, “Get On With It.” Launching on May 19th, this guide is designed specifically for you, the PT who is ready to stop overthinking and start making massive strides in your career and life.
Why Mindset is Your Most Important Muscle
You wouldn’t expect a client to hit a PB if they walked into the gym telling themselves they were going to fail. Yet, as professionals, we often do exactly that with our businesses. We set big, vague goals and then get overwhelmed by the mountain we have to climb.
In my coaching work at Your Success, I’ve found that the difference between a PT who is constantly stressed and one who is thriving isn’t just luck. It’s a deliberate mindset shift. It’s about moving from a state of “I should” to a state of “I am.”
This book isn’t about fluff or “just think positive” platitudes. It’s about practical, actionable strategies that I’ve used to help countless professionals find their edge.
Finding Your “Why” (The Real One)
We’ve all heard the advice: “Find your why.” But for many of us, that “why” is a bit generic. “I want to help people get healthy.” That’s great, but is it enough to get you out of bed for a 5:00 AM client in the middle of January? Probably not.
In “Get On With It,” I dive deep into how you can uncover the core drivers that actually move the needle for you. This is where Motivational Mapping comes into play. When I work with teams and individuals, we look at what truly energizes you. Are you driven by autonomy? By expertise? By making a meaningful difference?
When you understand your unique motivational profile, everything changes. You stop fighting against your natural inclinations and start working with them. Your “Why” becomes an anchor that keeps you steady when things get tough.
The Magic of Micro-Moves
One of the core concepts I share in the book is the idea of “Micro-Moves.” We live in a culture that celebrates the “grind” and the “hustle,” but that often leads straight to burnout.
Think about it: if you tell a client they need to lose 20kg, they might feel defeated before they start. But if you tell them to focus on just one extra glass of water today, they can do that. That’s a micro-move.
I want you to apply that same logic to your business and your personal growth. Instead of trying to reinvent your entire brand in a weekend, what is one tiny thing you can do today? Maybe it’s sending that one follow-up email. Maybe it’s recording one 30-second video for social media.
These small wins build momentum. And momentum is the enemy of procrastination. I’ve built my entire coaching philosophy around this, helping you set measurable 30-day goals that feel achievable rather than intimidating.
Taking Action: From Planning to Doing
I’m a big believer that a “perfect” plan that never leaves your notebook is worth significantly less than a “good” plan that you actually execute.
In the fitness industry, we are world-class at planning. we plan sessions, we plan diets, we plan cycles. But when it comes to our own professional development, we often get stuck in “learning mode.” We buy another course, we read another textbook, and we tell ourselves we’re working.
But learning without action is just a hobby.
“Get On With It” is a call to arms. It’s a reminder that you already have enough knowledge to take the next step. You just need the courage to be “imperfectly in motion.” I share the exact frameworks I use to help coaches unlock team energy and drive real-world behavioral changes in themselves and their clients.
Building Mental Resilience
The life of a PT is full of ups and downs. Clients cancel, income fluctuates, and sometimes, you just feel like you’re shouting into the void. This is where mental resilience becomes your greatest asset.
Resilience isn’t about never feeling stressed; it’s about how quickly you can bounce back. In the book, I talk about developing a “positive mindset” not as an optimistic mask, but as a functional tool. It’s about looking at a challenge and asking, “What is the opportunity here?”
When you stop seeing obstacles as dead ends and start seeing them as data points, you become unstoppable. You start to realise that every “no” is just a step closer to a “yes,” and every setback is a chance to refine your approach.

Mark Your Calendar: May 19th
I am so incredibly excited for you to get your hands on this. Writing this book has been a journey for me, too, and it’s a distillation of everything I’ve learned about what it takes to succeed in the fitness world.
On May 19th, “Get On With It” will be officially available. Whether you’re a newly qualified PT looking to find your feet or a seasoned coach feeling a bit stagnant, I believe there is something in these pages that will spark that fire again.
I’ve kept the design clean and the message even cleaner. No fluff, no jargon, just the stuff that works.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
I don’t just want you to read the book and put it on a shelf. I want it to be the start of a transformation.
If you’re feeling like you’re ready to take your business or your mindset to that next level, I’m here to help. Whether it’s through one-on-one coaching, motivational mapping for your gym team, or just a quick chat about your 30-day goals, I’d love to hear from you.
I’m all about helping you find that clarity and confidence to move forward. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
If any of this resonates with you, or if you just want to know more about the launch, please feel free to get in touch with me directly. I’m always up for a coffee and a chat about how I can support your journey.
Let’s stop waiting for the “right time” and just get on with it.
Warmly,
Keith Small
